Summary:
The Notebook begins with a man in a nursing home, reading a story to a woman. The story is about two young lovers, Allie Hamilton and Noah Calhoun, who meet one day at a summer carnival. The two spend what you could arguably say is a perfect summer together, falling in love. However, Allie's parents forbid the relationship and force Allie to move away. After waiting for any sign (such as letters) from Noah from years, Allie meets a man named Lon and becomes engaged. Deep down, she still has feelings for Noah though. Despite her commitment for Lon, Allie decides to pay a visit to Noah. There love is soon rekindled, as they realized that they were apart not because they wanted to be, but by circumstances (eg: Noah did write Allie. He wrote 365 letters -one each day for a year- and got no reply. Why? Because Allie's mother found and hid them). Allie now has to choose between Lon, the man she had already scheduled to marry, or Noah, the man who is her soulmate in every way.
Why I Love It:
The Notebook is one of the best love stories of all time. Though the majority of the movie takes place during the 40s, Allie & Noah are a completely realistic, and relatable, couple. You truly care about what happens to them. I give this movie an 100/100. Watch it. You won't be dissapointed.
