Recently Released: I Can Do Bad All By Myself

Review By: Kirsten

Rated: PG-13

Summary:

I Can Do Bad is about a singer named April who believes that her life is perfect. She sings in a club and has a pimp supporting her at home. The next thing she knows, she gets stuck with her sister’s three kids and an immigrant living in her basement. Time after time, April makes the same mistakes and pushes people away from her. She also hurts those who love her most. Over time, she finds out the true meaning of love and what real family is.

The movie has a great plot and is based on real life events. It was a little emotional when April's mother died, and since I'm very emotional...I did sort of cry. The cast did an amazing job. Personally, I felt that the songs in the movie were just a little to long, but still a nice touch. The best part in the movie had to be when April snapped and shocked Randy (her 'pimp'). That was hilarious. Madea trying to teach April's niece how to pray had tears rolling down my face. The movie is interesting and is a must see for people of all ages.

I Rate It: 3.5/5

Favorite Movie: The Notebook

Written By: Morgan

Released: June 2004

Rated: PG-13

Budget: $30,000,000

Gross: $115,609,229

Summary:

The Notebook begins with a man in a nursing home, reading a story to a woman. The story is about two young lovers, Allie Hamilton and Noah Calhoun, who meet one day at a summer carnival. The two spend what you could arguably say is a perfect summer together, falling in love. However, Allie's parents forbid the relationship and force Allie to move away. After waiting for any sign (such as letters) from Noah from years, Allie meets a man named Lon and becomes engaged. Deep down, she still has feelings for Noah though. Despite her commitment for Lon, Allie decides to pay a visit to Noah. There love is soon rekindled, as they realized that they were apart not because they wanted to be, but by circumstances (eg: Noah did write Allie. He wrote 365 letters -one each day for a year- and got no reply. Why? Because Allie's mother found and hid them). Allie now has to choose between Lon, the man she had already scheduled to marry, or Noah, the man who is her soulmate in every way.

Why I Love It:

The Notebook is one of the best love stories of all time. Though the majority of the movie takes place during the 40s, Allie & Noah are a completely realistic, and relatable, couple. You truly care about what happens to them. I give this movie an 100/100. Watch it. You won't be dissapointed.

Favorite Movie: I Am Legend

Written By: Shimon

Released: December 2007

Rated: PG 13

Budget: $150,000,000

Gross: $585,349,010

Summary:

My favorite movie is I Am Legend. Mainly set in 2012, it’s about a cure for a major disease that seems to be successful. But it turns out that it causes any living thing injected with it to turn into a flesh eating monster.

One man, who appears to be the last human being on Earth, decides to dedicate his life in search of an antidote that will reverse the monster-gene; in an attempt to save mankind. He learns the weaknesses of the beasts as well as there strengths and must find a cure from somewhere before its to late.

This is my favorite movie because it’s jam-packed with action, adventure and (a little) horror. I Am Legend is science-fiction at it’s best. EVERYONE should see it.

My Expectations:

Based on the amazing cartoon, on which this movie is based, I expect The Last Airbender to be a hit. Although it I think it will be a challenge to capture the entire storyline of this series in a couple of hours, I think all the crucial points will be there, though a lot of the details won't. Overall, I think The Last Airbender will turn out to be one of the top movies of 2010.
